I could sit and listen to Joni Mitchell’s “California” all day, but alas…this mixed media sculpture painting - for indeed it feels like more than a painting - is a collaboration between Miss Lily and myself. The flower bouquet measuring 4 inches deep gives this bouquet a full feel and those lashes, a Lily addition, really make this sweet face explode with personality.
Another collage piece that I didn’t love, Lily and I were sitting on the couch one day - months ago - when she picked up my markers and began drawing on this woman’s face. I’ve stared at this face for months before I finally worked up the nerve to add back to it. Not wanting to diminish or destroy what my own kiddo had done to it, I feel like we’ve woven together the perfect blend of her creative minimalism and my own maximalism.
If such a thing exists.
