Inspired by a 2025 trip to Arizona - the one rainy weekend I’m assured AZ had in forever - I painted these two, surrounded by other painters and my favorite watercolor teacher. Arizona was a new spot for me, but the red rocks and purple mountains were a sight to be seen - especially in the dull and frequent pounding rain. Dry, hot and red everywhere I am drawn back to these cacti, the hot shadows and so stunningly odd backdrop, so different from our lush in comparison Sonoma County spring.
