Saying you have a favorite art piece is akin to saying you’ve got a favorite child…but in this case, this one is my favorite art child. The Buddha, my bestie, sitting among rainbows - I cannot think of a more Jaime painting. Each January I start the new year with a piece I call my anxiety rainbows. I write down things that bring on heaps of anxiety and as I paint beautiful, colorful swatches of rainbows over the words, I “paint over” these things that cause me so much grief and worry, and I hang them where I can see them - in my classroom, my home wherever…not as a reminder of the things that bring me worry, but a reminder that it is all part of the process…it’s all temporary and that beautiful things come out of the madness. This particular piece captures the beauty of those anxieties with the understanding that worry and anxiety are all part of the human process, the process of becoming, of un-becoming, the process of be-ing. 

Interspersed and written over and over and over on the paper is the same phrase: When you know your inner nature, you know what is meant for you. 

And well, I think I just really like that. May you know who you are & what you are meant for.
