Ralph Waldo Emerson is perhaps one of my favorite American thinkers of all time. I have been so moved by the simplicity of his thoughts while in the depths of my most difficult growing seasons, on the outside of them and as a young (and now older) world traveler of sorts. “What lies ahead of you and what lies behind you pales in comparison to what lies within you,” or something of that sort. 

What I love about this piece is the sun sinking below the waterline, its outline faint and reflection full. And like those last rays of the sun, it’s warmth lingers on our skin…much like people and places that seem to linger within us, until they feel like an inseparable part of us.
