“Let’s Be Still” is a song by the Head and the Heart - and I do love a good tribute. Frequently while painting, I’ll listen to the same song or same playlist over and over again, and this song, played on repeat until this cutie was finished, always leaves me with a smile, especially in moments when I feel like life is spinning so fast around me. When we take a moment to pause, to get lost in a moment, or a book, or a conversation or a painting, those moments are pure gold in my book. 

And in my head, I’m sitting on the edge of those brown hills, sitting and watching the sun go down or come up, my trusty notebook beside me, watching the world shift and spin by. I hope today you get a moment to slow down and appreciate the beauty of today, tomorrow or even yesterday. In the words of Lao Tzu, “to a mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”
