This small round was inspired by Lola Black’s “Messy” which I recently discovered in the last few months, hearing it here and/or there in the most odd of places. And I suppose it works for this piece. I’ve been working on this small round since last year as part of a collage class I didn’t finish.
Messy. I know.
I am messy, my process is too, my house for sure, but I think that is what makes it all so beautiful - our way of life, parenting, momming, woman…ing. As I sit here on the couch with my 17 lb black cat snoozing next to me, I look at the mess in this well lived and well loved house and I’m content.
Messy. Her perfection is caped off with a glitter covered mouth and one eye open…one eye shut. Read into it all you like, I think it means Lily got ahold of the glitter before I could stop her.
Mixed media collage, 3-D and all that jazz, with a layer of paint and acrylic markers for good measure. Fully varnished and set with a wire to hang - she’s ready to sit on your wall and bless the beauty of mess and chaos into your space.
