I love the song "Moon River" and especially the version in which Audrey Hepburn sings on a fire escape, her imperfect her voice, tone and clumsy chords the perfect anecdote to the perfection demanded of every day life. I especially love that thought "we after the same rainbow's end..." in relation to the idea that we are all after that some thing that will serve to make us all happy, full of joy, full of love and purpose.
The waning crescent moon holds its own sort of power, that last fingernail sliver of yellowed moon helping us to let go of all those things that no longer serve us, those things that drain us. I like to think that this piece embraces the idea that in order to make room for things to come into our lives, we must let go of things that are simply existing or taking up space.
Sometimes this means letting go of past versions of ourselves that no longer fit, like an old t-shirt or that pair of jeans you know you won't ever get back into. We make space for the new by removing the old...and in this season of life, I am making space over and over and over again for beautiful things, joyous things and things that fill our days with light, love and laughter.
