Moonlit Sonata
Moonlit Sonata

Beethoven's Moonlit Sonata is a rather sombre melody for such a beautiful painting. This was the first of this series that I'd finished and absolutely loved and it felt fitting naming it after a piece of music that simply draws me in so fully. While the full moon represents a celebration of all things we've accomplished, this moon glows outside of its frame with an overabundance of light and brightness. Buffered by hints of watercolor pencil, ink and bleeding color, this is my favorite piece in the entire series...and I hope it lands exactly where it needs to land.
Creating a collection is such a deeply personal affair - lots of doubt, lots of second guessing, lots of vulnerability. And with this particular piece I see the beauty in the journey - the doubt, the countless scraps of paper that didn't make it, the canvases I wanted to chuck entirely. It is a beautiful thing to fully arrive somewhere and know that what you have to show is not the product itself, but the journey.
Enjoy and celebrate it, friends!
