Sentimental Journey

Each acrylic painting we do is the covered skeleton of another painting, and I’ve long since forgotten what Lily and I painted on the bottom of this one. But, the title is interesting nonetheless. I bought a stack of records a few weeks back, with the intent of painting them (my next NEXT project), and one of the records I purchased was Dorris Day’s “Sentimental Journey.” The checker couldn’t get enough of it and I didn’t have the heart to correct him. 

So, she fit. And in a fit of creative energy, good ole’ Dorris stared up at me as I fanagled glue and gesso…and in a sense, this piece - the first - took me on a sentimental journey of sorts. She’s aptly named and a stunning title piece. 

Mixed media collage, 3-D and all that jazz, with a layer of paint and acrylic markers for good measure. Fully varnished and set with a wire to hang - she’s ready to sit on your wall and bring beauty into your space.
