The Journey

Mary Oliver’s poem “The Journey” urges us to listen to the tiny voice within us, to continue moving forward though the path may be fraught with obstacles and fallen trees and the like. As I read and reread this poem, I hear the call to something greater - something that says, “you can no longer fit in the old spaces and old versions of yourself,” and it’s a call to action, a call to evolve. 

Watercolor has long been ingrained in my own journey of self, in my journey of motherhood, in my journey of becoming this incredible person with incredible experiences. And as I look down the path on this piece, I see so many spaces and places taught me love and kindness, people who taught me patience and anger, things that taught me to trust myself.

This is a special one, the first of my landscape series and the first in a new embracing of color and shape and form. 5.5X8.5 and framed in a 5X7, let it be an invitation to your own journey, wherever it may lead you.
