The Proof In Feathers
The Proof In Feathers

"Feathers are proof that we can shed pieces of ourselves and still feel whole."
Once upon a time, I had an epic break up with a whole slew of people I loved. And it left me gutted. How do you move on gently with yourself after deciding to put yourself first? How do you remain patient with yourself after finally laying solid boundaries after decades of none? How do you remain present with yourself after growing through the various iterations of "self" in order to be here and now?
Growth is a harrowing process, a difficult one for sure and one that requires immense strength, knowledge of self and kindness & grace. When we think of birds, they loose their feathers all the time, but they still fly, they're still whole, they're still...birds.
This piece of journal writing came to me after a particularly difficult bout of growth. And in an effort to remind myself that I'm flawed but still worthy, I put it in this piece. And I'm so glad I did.
I see you. I see how far you've come, how much you've grown and what you've endured. You're stronger than you know, and wiser than you think. And you are still whole.
