Tortuga is Spanish for turtle and while we don’t have too many turtles here in this part of Sonoma County, it doesn’t mean they are any less beautiful. This gentle water giant, with its cool and soothing color scheme, invites you into the water, invites you to slow down and feel the waves - working with them rather than against.
Mixed Media on paper, this piece uses a watercolor background and plays with color, gold pen and oil pastels. Painted on my favorite bamboo paper, this one is an absolute favorite of mine and features a ‘bonus’ painting on the backside - one of my first and only attempts at water…I think the turtle looks way better! Finished with UV protectant sealer.
